{"id":231,"date":"2013-11-29T09:48:11","date_gmt":"2013-11-29T17:48:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gsaviation.ca\/newsite\/?p=231"},"modified":"2013-11-29T11:46:29","modified_gmt":"2013-11-29T19:46:29","slug":"friday-fact-type-ratings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gsaviation.ca\/?p=231","title":{"rendered":"Friday Fact: Type Ratings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I often hear confusion as to when a type rating is required, however there are only <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>two instances<\/strong><\/span> when they are mandatory.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The first instance is:<br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>when the aircraft is deemed to be high performance.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The second instance is:<br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>when the aircraft manufacturer has specified in the type certificate that two pilots are required to fly the aircraft.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These are the only situations that cause a requirement for a type rating.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It has nothing to do with the size of the aircraft. Common misconception is that any aircraft categorized as a large aircraft requires a type rating: that\u2019s not true!\u00a0 It has nothing to do with the sub part that the operator operates under.
